Excel Solution to FH Phase Boundary
Instructions
- If Excel is installed on your computer, and if you are
using Internet Explorer as your Web browser, then the
file will probably open Excel and immediately be ready to
go.
- If you use Netscape, you may have to save the file (e.g.,
as c:\FH.XLS) and then start Excel manually (look for it
on the Start Menu)
- Study how the spreadsheet is constructed. Just poke
around with your cursor and look at the edit bar, name
bar, etc. Explore!
- Try changing Sigma and see what happens (and what
DOESN'T, which is the problem with my version).
- Study how the Solver Option is configured, and try
running Solver. The way that Solver is used here, you
must manually solve for each value of F2b
- This is a very simple Excel spreadsheet; it doesn't use
Visual Basic buttons or bars, has no macros, etc.
Instructions
- Follow the instructions above to open the Spreadsheet.
- This one has a plot!
- Also, Ms. Evans configured Solver using the
"Conditions" argument. This way, it solves
several values of F2b simultaneously.
