SAACS Membership is FREE!!

There is no fee to join SAACS at LSU!  All you have to do is download a Membership Form and email it to saacs@lsu.edu.  You may also bring a hard copy to the SAACS mailbox in 232 Choppin Hall.  Blank forms are available on our bulletin board on the first floor of Choppin.  Visit our home page to join our email listserv.

Do you want to join the American Chemical Society, too?

We recommend that you also join the American Chemical Society (ACS).  The regular membership fee is $22, but you can receive up to 51 issues of Chemical and Engineering News for an extra $15 (total fee $37).  Please submit your application form and membership fee by choosing one of the following options:

  •  Application Form:  Download an ACS Membership Form and bring it to 232 Choppin Hall.  Please include a payment of $22 or $37 (checks made payable to "SAACS").  This fee is sent directly to the ACS.  Blank forms are available on the SAACS bulletin board on the first floor of Choppin.
  •  Online Submission:  Register online at the ACS website. Click on "Online Application Wizard" and select "Student Affiliate (Undergraduate Students Only)."  After completing the application, you can pay the membership fee online by credit card or by receiving a bill through the mail.  Be sure to notify us of your membership by filling out a SAACS at LSU Membership Form and sending it to saacs@lsu.edu.

***After you receive your membership card in the mail, please email us your ACS membership number, which is printed on the card.  This helps us keep track of our members.

NOTE:  You do not have to be an ACS member to join SAACS, but ACS members get great benefits!  (see below)

Top 5 reasons to be an ACS member:

  • You will be a member of the biggest scientific community in the country (over 161,000 members)!
  • It will look great on your resume.
  • You can run for a SAACS officer position.
  • You will be eligible to attend the annual ACS National Conference in Chicago, IL.  All expenses paid!!  (Who would miss out on that?!)
  • You will be eligible to apply for the SAACS "Service to Science Scholarship!"  That's a few hundred bucks going straight in your pocket!
