Nano cell types, descriptions, & volumes

 

There are a variety of cells/cuvettes that can be used for size, mass, and charge measurements with the Zetasizer Nano system. While it is possible that cuvettes supplied by 3rd party vendors will work, it always best to test new cell types with an appropriate standard, prior to measuring unknowns. A list of Malvern tested cuvettes, along with their descriptions, specifications, and suitability with various Zetasizer Nano models follows.

 

Zeta Potential Cells/Cuvettes

 

DTS1060

Disposable cuvettes for the measurement of size and zeta potential with the Zetasizer Nano series, including the Nano Z, ZS, & ZS90 models. Pack of 25 with 50 stoppers. While this cell can be used for both size & zeta potential measurements, for pure sizing applications, a sizing cell is recommended. The cell is constructed from polycarbonate with gold plated electrodes, and has a minimum sample volume of 0.75 mL. The luer lock apertures can be connected directly to the capillary tubing supplied with the MPT-2 Titrator for stopped flow size and zeta potential measurements.

 

ZEN1002

Universal dip cell kit for the measurement of zeta potential with the Zetasizer Nano series, including the Nano Z, ZS, & ZS90 models. The kit comes complete with 1 dip cell, constructed from PEEK with palladium electrodes, and 1 glass cuvette (PCS1115). Suitable replacement cuvettes include the DTS0012 square polystyrene sizing cuvette and the PCS1115 glass sizing cuvette, both with square apertures. If used in conjunction with a Nano ZS system, the dip cell does not need to be removed for sizing measurements, but must be removed if used in conjunction with a Nano ZS90 system. The minimum sample volume is 0.7 mL.

Sizing Cells/Cuvettes

 

DTS0012

Disposable 12mm square polystyrene cuvettes for sizing measurements with Zetasizer Nano series, including the Nano S, ZS, S90, & ZS90 models. Comes in pack of 100 with 100 stoppers. Minimum sample volume is 1 mL. Is suitable for use with the Universal Dip Cell (ZEN1002) for zeta potential measurements.

 

PCS8501

12mm square glass cuvette with round aperture and cap for sizing measurements with the Zetasizer Nano series, including the Nano S, ZS, S90, & ZS90 models. Minimum sample volume is 1 mL. Is NOT suitable for use with the Universal Dip Cell, but can be used for molecular weight measurements when used in conjunction with the Nano S or ZS models.

 

PCS1115

12mm square glass cuvette with square aperture and cap for size measurements with the Zetasizer Nano series, including the Nano S, ZS, S90, & ZS90 models. Minimum sample volume is 1 mL. Is suitable for use with the Universal Dip Cell (ZEN1002) for zeta potential measurements, and can also be used for molecular weight measurements when used in conjunction with the Nano S or ZS models.

Low Volume Sizing Cells/Cuvettes

 

ZEN0112

Disposable 12mm square low volume polystyrene cuvettes for sizing measurements with the Zetasizer Nano series, including the Nano S, ZS, S90, & ZS90 models. Pack of 100 with 100 stoppers. Minimum sample volume is 0.375 mL, which can be reduced to 0.1 mL if used in conjunction with the provided insert/spacer.

 

ZEN2112

Low-volume quartz cuvette for sizing measurements with the Zetasizer Nano series, including the Nano S, ZS, S90, & ZS90 systems. Minimum sample volume is 12 mL when used in conjunction with the S or ZS models, and 20 mL when used in conjunction with the S90 or ZS90 models. The recommended maximum sample volume is 45 mL. The cuvette can also be used for molecular weight measurements when used in conjunction with the Nano S or ZS models. For instrument serial #s earlier than MAL500119, an optics upgrade by a trained Malvern service engineer is required prior to cell use.

Flow Cells/Cuvettes

 

ZEN0023

Quartz flow cell for automated size and intensity measurements with the Zetasizer Nano series, including the Nano S, ZS, S90, & ZS90 models, when used in conjunction with an MPT-2 Titrator. Cell comes complete with capillary tubing for connection to the MPT-2. Internal sample volume of the cell is ~ 0.1 mL.

 

DTS1060

Disposable cuvettes for the measurement of size and zeta potential with the Zetasizer Nano series, including the Nano Z, ZS, & ZS90 systems. Pack of 25 with 50 stoppers. While this cell can be used for both size & zeta potential measurements, for pure sizing applications, a sizing cell is recommended. Is suitable for use with the Universal Dip Cell (ZEN1002) for zeta potential measurements, and can also be used for molecular weight measurements when used in conjunction with the Nano S or ZS models.
